Reliable Power

  • Most engine performance problems start in the tank
  • The root of the issues lies in the condition of your fuel
  • If your system is not operating at its peak potential, learn about your system issues and discover how to obtain reliability

Peak Engine Performance

  • Is your engine just not running the same?
  • No more "get up and go" power from your diesel engine?
  • Find out why you're not getting the performance you want and how to fix it.

Lower Emissions

  • Notice excessive smoke coming from your exhaust?
  • Are the fumes noxious and potent?
  • The problem lies in the condition of your fuel.

WattNow Electrical Engineering Magazine Interviews ALGAE-X International Rep to Discuss Diesel Fuel Contamination

Fort Myers, FL – In WattNow’s article “Contaminated Diesel Fuel Poses a Serious Risk in Standby Generators,” ALGAE-X International (AXI) representative Ron Mattig, MD of Clear Fuel Technologies, South Africa, discusses the crucial and often neglected element of reliable generator operations, poor diesel fuel quality.

“It’s a known fact that in Southern Africa, the quality of diesel fuel is questionable at best, but the situation with standby generators is exacerbated because of their infrequent usage. Standard maintenance procedures generally exclude testing and resolving fuel integrity, yet fuel is the root cause of most genset failures,” said Mattig.

WattNow reports that 85% of engine failures in gensets are fuel related, posing a severe risk to reliable operations. Fuel tanks are a perfect environment for contaminants including sludge that clogs filters and injectors resulting in engine damage and generator failure.  Injection systems and pumps have very tight tolerances and operate at extremely high pressures. These systems are critical and demand high quality fuel to comply with the specification of  the engine manufacturer.. Regularly replacing the stored fuel these generators rely on does not fix the problem of because contaminants remain on tank walls and baffles, contaminating all of the new fuel that is stored in the tank.

Mattig presented these facts recently to the Durban Branch of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE), saying afterward that the presentation was an eye opener for the attendees.

Mattig’s company, Clear Fuel Technologies, supplies AXI Fuel Conditioning Systems and fuel decontamination services through a network of South African distributors. Solutions include on-site tank cleaning with AXI’s advanced technology that extracts water, debris and contaminants while simultaneously conditioning the fuel in place to reverse the deterioration processes that occur in diesel fuel. Clear Fuel Technologies, offers AXI’s maintenance and monitoring systems that continually condition fuel, ensuring the pristine quality needed by today’s advanced gensets.

ALGAE-X International Exhibits Automated Diesel Fuel Filtration Systems at Power-Gen International, Las Vegas

STS-7004-caption-PowerGen

ALGAE-X International, (AXI), will exhibit automated fuel filtration systems that prevent fuel-related engine failures for mission-critical power at Power-Gen International, Las Vegas, Booth 5546, December 13-15, 2011.

AXI’s fuel experts invite risk managers, facilities and maintenance engineers to Booth 5546 to learn more about maintaining reliable fuel for generators. See AXI’s new STS 7004 Automated Fuel Filtration System with Touch-Screen Controller, Modbus, TCP/IP LAN connectivity and E-mail and SMS alerts.

Proper generator service is an integral part of every maintenance plan, however most service agreements do not cover fuel-related engine failures. Fuel has a limited shelf life and even “fresh fuel” may contain water, sediment, microbes and bio-fuel components upon delivery. Surprisingly, periodic generator testing may significantly accelerate the fuel deterioration process. Maintaining quality diesel fuel for reliable mission-critical power is vital in order to avoid potential liabilities.

AXI’s Automated Fuel Filtration Systems automatically maintain fuel quality and guarantee reliable emergency power whenever needed.

AXI’s patented Green Certified technologies, commitment to customer service and superior engineering have propelled the company to a leadership position as it enables more efficient use of the world’s non-renewable resources.

AXI is represented across North America and in more than 40 countries worldwide. Equipment is available through major Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel and other engine distributors.

ALGAE-X International, (AXI), will exhibit at the International WorkBoat Show in New Orleans, Booth 1055, November 30 – December 2, 2011.

Owners and operators of commercial vessels, shipyards, port engineers and naval architects will see AXI’s new STS 7004 Automated Fuel Filtration System with Touch-Screen Controller, Modbus, TCP/IP LAN connectivity and E-mail and SMS alerts.

AXI’s fuel experts invite you to Booth 1055 to discuss fuel conditioning, filtration and separation for Diesel and HFO fuels. Our innovative technology provides Reliable Fuel Quality crucial for engine performance, filters, injection systems and emissions compliance with IMO regulations.
