Liqui-Cult™

Liqui-Cult™ test kits are used to detect microbial growth in fluids, in the laboratory and in the workplace. Areas of application included metalworking fluids, circulating cooling and process water, hydrocarbons, and other liquids such as cleaners, cosmetics, liquid soaps and detergents, etc.

Directions (pdf)

1. Capture a fuel Sample in a clean Dry Container.

2. Remove center seal from metal cap of test bottle. Unwrap syringe. Remove needle guard and insert tip into liquid to be tested. Draw plunger back and fill the syringe with complete 5cc's of fluid to be tested.

3. Inject needle thru rubber cap on bottle and push down on syringe plunger, emptying contents completely into it. Remove syringe from bottle, replacing needle guard and discard according to local, state and federal guidelines.

4. Incubate bottle at room temperature for 30 hrs. for microbial growth and 72 hrs. in total for fungal growth.

5. Baterial Growth: After 30 hrs. compare the color of sample bottle to the color chart.

6. Fungal Growth:After 72 hrs. compare the color of the test bottle to the color chart.

7. Storage & Disposal: Liqui-CultT should be stored at room temperature. (68-75° F) Protect from light. Need not be refrigerated. Under a fume hood, fill the bottle with bleach...let stand for 24 hrs. Then, discard in an appropriate manner.

LIQUI-CULT FUEL TESTING

Liqui-Cult Fuel Test kits are an excellent tool to monitor fuel tanks for microbial activity. Liqui-Cult easily demonstrates and quantifies bacterial and fungal growth in water, fuels, oil, hydraulic and other fluids.

FUEL SAMPLING

To obtain samples from the bottom of tanks ALGAE-X® offers a wide variety of fuel sampling equipment such as sampling thieves (bacon bombs) or fuel sampling pumps. Please refer to Algae-X® spec sheet “FS-100 / FS 200 Fluid Sampling Equipment” or contact us.

SYMPTOMS OF MICROBIAL GROWTH IN FUELS AND OIL

Often, the fuel in the bowl of the primary filter is dark, cloudy and contains deposits of sludge and slime often referred to as "Algae". Filter elements should last 1000 hours or more. Frequent filter replacements indicate poor fuel quality. Increased filtration efforts only address the symptoms, but will not stop the process of fuel deterioration in the tanks that leads to sludge and acid build up, corroded injectors and smoking engines. ALGAE-X® stops & reverses the results of this process in fuel and oil.

ALGAE-X® Fuel Management Systems recondition and stabilize fuels and oil. When implementing Algae-X® technology, Liqui-Cult Test will show that microbial activity have greatly diminished to non-detectable and fuel has become "Clear & Bright". Each tank & every fuel system needs ALGAE-X®, to prevent or eliminate fuel related engine performance problems.

We also recommend making sure there is no water in the bottom of your tank. This can easily be achieved by using Water Eliminators (WE) or Algae-X® tank cleaning or fuel polishing systems such as MTC (Mobile Tank Cleaning System), FPS (Fuel Polishing System) or STS (Fuel Conditioning and Filtration System).
No water - No microbial activity.
