I am the Captain and operator of the MV Avalon based in Saucilito. I had recently been experiencing severe fuel contamination in one of my main tanks, and had little success with using biocides and with tank cleaning attempts. I discussed my problem with Steve Danaher at Pacific Marine Engineering, and he recommended that I install an ALGAE-X Fuel Decontamination Unit, which had solved similar problems for several of his other customers.

I had not heard of this product and was more than a little skeptical that this unit would prevent the filter clogging I had been experiencing. Having known Steve and his reputation for excellent service, I took his advice and installed the ALGAE-X unit.

I am delighted to report the results have been far better than I had expected I Not only have my filters cleared up and are lasting many more hours than before, hut my engines are running beautifully and there is no smoke from the diesel exhaust. You can imagine how important reliability and clean engine operation is to a Charter Vessel. I highly recommend anyone who is having fuel system problems (or wants to prevent them!) install these ALGAE-X units.
